At Skanska USA, I worked on real-time 3D architectural modeling to assist with construction logistics. Using Unreal Engine, I rendered models that allowed clients to visualize and modify building designs dynamically.

Introducing AR-driven decision-making in a traditionally tech-lagging industry, helping Skanska bridge the gap between cutting-edge visualization and practical construction planning.

Key Contributions

  • Real-Time 3D Rendering for Construction Logistics:

    • Used Unreal Engine to develop interactive 3D models for client walkthroughs.

    • Self-taught AutoCAD & 3ds Max to create models optimized for Unreal environments.

    • Explored rendering techniques such as texture mapping, shaders, and ray tracing.

  • AR Integration for Client Visualization:

    • Developed AR support using Tilt 5 Glasses, allowing clients to view and modify their building designs in augmented reality.

    • Created a feature where users could select and swap materials (flooring, lighting, HVAC, etc.).

    • Implemented a cost-tracking system, ensuring clients stayed within budget when making material selections.

Impact & Documentation

  • Built the foundation for AR-enhanced construction visualization.

  • Though I didn’t have time to finalize the visuals, I ensured the functionality was structured so my team could easily continue development.

  • Provided comprehensive documentation for:

    • Feature implementation & UI logic.

    • Bug tracking & debugging notes.
